What are you believing about your interior design or decorating business? I’ve had one-on-one conversations with many of you so I know how big your dreams and goals are. But what are your beliefs?
Are you seeing good things happen or are you feeling discouraged? Do you have the kind of faith to believe even when it looks or feels impossible?
It’s easy to give up, especially when things take longer than we’d like. Maybe you’re just not sure which direction to go, or are wondering if it’s worth continuing on this path. These are the times when you want to pause, take a deep breath, clear your mind, and realize you are not alone. You may feel you are sometimes – while you’re rarely alone in your designer role, as a business owner it can feel like you’re living on your own in a completely different world. Friends and family may not understand what you’re going through and can’t relate. Colleagues who treat their design business more as a hobby than a business don’t understand when you want something more.
So what do you do?
- Set your intention. What do you really want for you and for your design business? When you picture a world where anything is possible, what does your business look like? Imagine all the options on the face of a compass. What are you seeking? Where will you go? Sketch it out, write it down, set your intention.
- Believe. Act as if you already have what you want and you’re where you want to be. By believing and acting as if, you’re in a positive, confident place of abundance rather than a negative, unsure place of lack.
- Take inspired action. See seeds of opportunity in all that happens and move forward every day by taking inspired actions.
- Look around and be open to signs. Help and support are all around! Resources you’ve had may seem to jump out at you. For example, a book you picked up months ago and never read. Suddenly one day you remember you have it, open it up and discover it contains exactly the answer you need at that moment.
- Tempted to look back? That’s okay, if it’s to notice how things that have happened have ultimately worked to your advantage (even when it may have felt like anything but at the time). Remember, your plans may not always work out the way you thought but often work out better than you could imagine!
Resources have been put in your life to help you navigate to where you want to go. What direction is your compass pointing to? What are you believing about your interior design business?
